WRPG VS. JRPG.

Contrary to what this tells you, a western rpg can be just as good, if not better than an eastern rpg. Ugh…/irritation at people like this.

Because seriously I enjoy both and what that person wrote for the Western RPGs is making me do this:

Both types of RPGs are amazing in their own way.

Apparently, this person hasn’t played enough of both. Way to make your argument only using Square shit. Don’t include the best of the old JRPGs with the new pancake shit Square keeps putting out. The shit may look pretty, but the stories are lacking. On the otherside, WRPGs might look shitty, but sometimes there are compelling stories. Both have huge downsides…

Seriously, you don’t think we can’t find some JRPG games with shitty production values? You do a disservice to both types when you say cherry-pick at flaws or strengths and say this means one is better than the other.

I dare the OP to say that Unlimited SaGa is better than Fallout 3.

I noticed first off that they game more discription for JRPG protagonists, Now if you look at the Geralt, 3rd guy from the left under WRPG, he is quite a complex character, He is a witcher, birthed from a mage and a warrior, and trained as well as survived through many mutations making him all but sterile and monster hunter for life. He didn’t choose that. On top of that:

1. Sexual orientation is ab option in Mass Effect as is gender and addition.
2. Without giving too many spoilers, Geralt is fucking fascinating I love him to death because of his past and his personality.
3. You are a homophobic twat. Thank you.

Gameplay; gee I noticed that 2 of the three images are from action rpgs. Wow, nice nit-picking person.  I can name several examples of non-action WRPGs. TES series, Witcher series, Rift (yeah its MMO but far from action; its hotkey based).

Production values. Lesse you choose games old and dated. Morriowind, that was made oh…. 10 years ago. Oh and third picture, nice job shoving an elf not related to the Dragon age series in front of Anders so your eyes are drawn to the old character model because it takes up 3/4ths the screen. Oh and another thing, on FF10 image? You chose a cutscene screenshot. Trust me I know, that was the last Final Fantasy game I played all the way through. Mostly because of Blitzball. BTW; On the phrase “Dated Graphics and aweful are direction. I have 1 word, and 1 picture. Skyrim:

The future. Now what you are stating here on both sides is not true. Last I played a JRPG its mechanics and style was the same as FF7 just updated UI layout and graphics. I played FF13 about 6 months ago, gave up after an hour, it was boring. There is no advances in JRPG, its mechanics and stories are STALE and they do not learn anything from previous titles. Stagnation in the video game industry is a bad thing. Example of this Call of Duty series.
